I just received a flyer from Culligan in the mail and checked on their website. You can get a free in-home water test to have your water tested for hardness, iron, phosphates and more.

Repair > Save Money > Save Environment

And on the Culligan website I saw another one of those DUH statements that I want to share with you:

  • Dripping faucets and leaking toilets cost money – more than you think. A leaking tap can waste 75 liters of water a day!! Repairing them saves money and the environment.
  • Washing machines can save 80-90% of their energy use if you wash using cold water. And the old clothesline wasn’t so bad either – it’ll save you money, and energy (thus the earth, as less energy has to be produced, which reduces CO2 emissions).
  • Re-fill those water bottles. This will keep many, many bottles from ending up in the landfill. Our capitalist spending behavior, especially in disposable goods has to be curbed!

Simple things, really. But if we all take just a little action, the overall impact will be enormous!
